There are a few beaches near Annapolis, but they are mainly for strolling, sightseeing and fossil-collecting. The first one is Sandy Point State Park, good for fishing and swimming, 12 miles east of Annapolis. Another one is the Assateague Island National, quite wild and unspoiled by visitors or tourists, with wild horses roaming around.
