The Charlotte observer, you can check out its site at http://www.charlotte.com. It's often a newspaper fighting against local political trends, so you won't be welcome when you go interviewing politicians. I call it "The Charlotte disturber", so maybe you'll prefer to get work at a supermarket, or something more quiet. The offices are in the center.
