bekky's question:
What is so unique about that park in Cortez? I'm thankful for details.(give a different answer) .
The so-called Green Table park (because of its pine and juniper forests) hosts great archaeological sites, revealing relics of the Anasazi people inhabiting the place around 600 AD. The exploration of the park was initiated in 1888, and now there's about 400 sites showing ancient dwellings. The hotspots are Cliff Palace and Balcony House, but your only allowed to visit in the company of a ranger guide (see Visitors Center in Cortez at www.nps.com).
