There's the Skyline drive crossing the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park all the way to Waynesboro in the south. You'll have 105 miles to clear your thoughts. The mountains are covered by maple, oaks, sycamores and display such wonderful colors in autumn, the park is a paradise for bird watching, and the entrance is no more than 10$ per car. Expect to drive nose-to-tail though, but don't get angry-just stop at one of the 75 balcony-like overlooks!
