Let's put it this way: there would be no Las Vegas without Hoover Dam and all the neon and glittering that we know in this town would not exist either. All the Southwest is tied directly to the electricity created by the dam, which was actually built by curbing the flow of the Colorado River and using that in the interests of society, for achieving electricity. You have to see it for yourself, it's really impressive.
