I know a cheapie in Hollywood Blvd, priced at 17$ for a dorm bed and 40$ for a single room. It's called Hollywood International Hostel, but it's scruffy, kitchen is non-existent and security is extinct. The various crowd sleeps in single sex rooms with three or four beds. At least, there's Internet facilities, and globetrotters are outgoing and ready to party.
