I used to hang out with my folks in LA at Zanzibar, a dance club in Santa Monica. Only the decor is African- style because the music is as electronic and DJ-esque as it can be. Though rather new on LA scene, it is very popular and I think you will like it too: the music is great; it has a friendly environment with comfy couches and socializing wind bar. Arrive early if you want to avoid queue lines. Location: 1301 5th street Santa Monica.
