The Garden District, New Orleans

Posted 1 year ago by sonia in response to avatar abrar's question: What do you know about the Garden District in New Orleans? (give a different answer) .

I think it's the second most famous area of New Orleans after the The French Quarter. It got its name from the lavish and luxurious estates surrounded by lawns built here in the early 19th century. Some of these beautful private homes are open for the public during the Spring Fiesta Tours in late March. The French Quarter and the Garden District are connected by the St. Charles Avenue, where you can see the St. Charles Streetcar, allegedly the oldest streetcar in the world.
