Sure, there's the Abingdon guest house on 13, Eighth Ave, where I stayed while I came for an interview in NY. The thing is you have to stay for a minimum of 4 nights, paying 149$ for a single. It's quite different for an usual B&B, very elegant, with antique furniture, a small kitchen and Internet facilities. Private bathrooms aren't a problem.
