Perhaps there are several such locations, but the only one that comes to my mind right now is Helen's, in Eighth Ave, btwn 18th and 19th Sts. One can eat here and-as you desired-listen to some artists playing the piano. The Hideaway Room is home to genuine cabaret. Pricey, but worthwhile.
