Since the 1970s, Dumbo is one of the areas in NYC that are mostly frequented by artists, especially east of the Manhattan BRidge, in the graffiti buildings. Vinegar HIll is further east of the bridge and is a suitable area for seeing historic places along Wate St. On Washington St there is the Dumbo Arts Center.
