Actually there is a happening which has become a Provincetown holiday tradition: Holly Folly, The Gay & Lesbian Holiday Festival, held at the begining of December. You can shop, feast, party, and of course, do your "gay apparel" :)). You'll find the schedule of the festival here: http://www.ptown.org/happenings/hollyfolly/ .
