San Diego's history is intricately connected to the Mexican heritage, but the best thing you can do if you want to find out more about it is go to the Old Town State Historic Park of San Diego. It is a state park on Wallace street in the old Town where you will see what the architecture was during the brief period when San Diego was the capital of Mexico :)
