there is no shortage of that, I must say. San Diego has dozens of miles of ocean beaches, and most of them are very good surfing spots. Some of my favorites include La Jolla Shores, Pacific beach and Ocean Beach. for gear go to Avenida Ave and look for La Jolla Surf Systems
