If the kids are not too old I think they would like visiting Oakland Zoo. The zoo has both wild animals like monkeys, pythons, alligators and house pets (the last ones can be fed because they are friendly and won't do any harm). Going to Oakland also gives them the chance to try a miniature trains or a carousel. Admission costs $8.5 for adults and $5 for children
