North Beach quarter in San Francisco

Posted 1 year ago by wiener in response to vegok's question: Tell me more about the North Beach quarter in San Francisco. I have some acquaintances going to move there. (give a different answer) .

It's an Italian-American neighborhood, pumping with cafe lounges and bars, but encouraging poetry and progressive politics as a promoter of the 1950's Beat movement. Top attraction? The nude dancing along Broadway, the neon-lit worldwide known boulevard. For a greenery escape, there's the Washington square, where people go for a football game, for some tai-chi or just a sun bath. Coit Tower, atop Telegraph Hill, is the best spot for a panoramic view (3$ for an elevator ride at 216 ft).
