Saratoga Springs, a Victorian queen of spas

Posted 1 year ago by avatar jean in response to igor's question: What's become of the 19th century spa Saratoga Springs? is the town still standing ? (give a different answer) .

Yes, it was exposed to demolition in 1960, but the people who decided to restore its historic treasures decided to spare it at the last minute. You know, Saratoga Springs, 30 miles north of Albany, was the summer escape of wealthy Americans who enjoyed its carbonated waters and organized polo matches, horse races and garden parties there. Today the springs can still be visited, but the town is famous for its cultural events: the New York City Ballet in July, Philadelphia Orchestra in August and the Saratoga Race Course.
