I'll bring some good news, the oldest Catholic church in the United States is just southwest of Tucson, dating back to 1692. You'll be enchanted by the frescoes, wood carvings and statues inside, reminding of the Spanish-Moorish style. Of course, you'll have to deal with the Tohono O'odham Indian tribe, who are the masters and guardians of the church.
