I Washington DC we have the National Zoo located on 3001 Connecticut Avenue NW. You can get there by metro, Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams-Morgan or Cleveland Park station via the Red Line but you will have to walk about half a mile from the metro station to the zoo entrance. Also the entrance is free.
